Dr Muhammad Sajjad is currently based at the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), Hong Kong SAR where he is a Res. Asst. Prof. (Environmental & Urban Systems) in the Department of Geography. He is a member of the Smart Society Lab (one of the six interdisciplinary research labs at HKBU to provide solutions to common sets of problems) and the Centre for Geo-computation Studies.

Dr Sajjad earned his PhD degree at the City University of Hong Kong and visited Princeton University USA during 2018-19 to conduct part of his PhD research. Over the past years, he has served as a senior scientist of climate risks and resilience in the industry and has provided consultancy services regarding climate risks and opportunities-related R&D, TCFD, and TNFD among others to different organizations worldwide including Canada, UK, and Australia.

Based on his industry and academic experiences, Dr Sajjad is a dedicated person in the fields of interdisciplinary climatic research, natural hazards, and geospatial technologies (e.g., spatial statistical modelling, machine learning, geo-visualization/analytics) and their application to Socio-Environmental Sustainability, Urban Planning/Design, and Public Health. He has published extensive work (25+ articles in top-tier journals) on developing integrated frameworks to explore the risk-resilience-sustainability nexus and to provide sustainable and resilient solutions and his work is well recognized by international organizations, such as the UN-HABITAT.
